Études
To get a feel for futtuplets in action, we need to be sure to listen to them in a musical context. I've included some free études (short musical pieces that highlight a specific technique) for students to hear quintuplet figures in a real-world setting. The backing loops are very simple--usually just one or two measures long. By limiting the rhythm and the harmony, we can better focus on what's happening in the melody.
I encourage advanced students to identify, transcribe, and play the futtuplets hidden in each song.
